White Winter Hymnal
"I love to make things," she wrote in her introduction post. "I'm a musician, artist, photographer, videographer, writer, composer, producer. I want to perfect my crafts and will put my energy into anything that will allow that."
This piece, and the whole of her blog, is a testament to these declarations. I first heard the Pentatonix cover of Fleet Foxes' White Winter Hymnal and I instantly fell in love with the ballad. Here @theemeraldruby cemented that love through her beautiful singing. The harmonies are simply brilliant. The flute and ukulele adds a whole level of dynamism and freshness to this cover. Great performance all in all.
Listen to the song in this post, and keep up with the artiste's blog for similar contents.

Dwarfs!
Image from @jcalero's post
When your town is hosting a "Middle-earth Conference" there are many things to be afraid of. In this short, humorous piece of fiction, JCalero's character relives a nervy encounter with strange creatures, at a bar where things got really tense pretty fast. What I really admired about this piece, apart from the author's imagination, is the narrative deftness that brought a nameless character to life and makes readers relate to his situation.
Dwarfs is short, entertaining, and very funny. @scrawly recommends you read it with breakfast 😉

The Great War Centenary: Part One, The Tinderbox
Image property of @tim-beck
This is the kind of post you will bookmark for reference purpose: a thorough historical document undertaken by Tim on this centenary anniversary of the end of "the first truly global conflict."
A seven-part series that was published in a build up to the Armistice centenary of 11/11/18, started with this introduction post. There the author lays the frame work for the undertaking, and expresses his fascination with history, "from the small stories that add to the fabric of humanity to the grand narratives of war and peace."
This featured post covers the lead up to, and the start of the war, the big role that different mutual defense alliances played, among other factors. There is too much to learn from Tim's in-depth insight on that subject, very excellently presented here.
Here's one very rich in history. I am already on a journey to read through the entire series, and I will invite you on the undertaking.
Read the first part here, and if you would, the rest of the series on author's blog.

STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK #110: Letter To My Unborn (Original Song)
Papaudeme's sound is refreshing, and usually "burdened" with deep messages on social issues, or—like in this case—a beautiful letter to a child yet born. "Letter To My Unborn" is an original song and was entered in last week's "Steemit Openmic Contest."
"I am an independent African musician," @papaudeme wrote me. "I approach whatever kind of music I play with an 'Afro mentality'. It is my deepest desire to see my music communicate positively with my immediate environment and the world at large."
@papaudeme hails from and resides his Nigeria, and shares his music on Steem and Choon. He also blogs on a wide range of subjects within the music ecosystem, including technical tutorials, album reviews, and guides in setting up a home studio, among others.
Listen to his brilliant song here.

Short story | σχίζειν φρήν
Image from @zoexantelamv's "Disclosure" post
Zoe calls herself "a designated spokesperson of internal stressors." This story of Anna is such an astute representation of schizophrenia that will get you wondering, who exactly is Anna? considering that this is written in third-person. Attempting to answer that question lies the shrouded definition of a good writer, and what is "writing" even.
In Zoe's words, "I believe writing is a way of giving a voice to the unknown and the untold, to leave it right there for humankind to grasp."
I love "σχίζειν φρήν" because it serves a purpose.
As a reading guide, @zoexantelamv took the time to publish a "Disclosure" that delves into the characters in-depth, and offers general insight into the writing and the thought process behind it. Call it a "behind-the-scene" if you like. I believe one is reinforced by the other, so be sure to read both.
Zoe is a Curie Curator and it is a privilege to have met her, through her writing and in Discord where we hang out.
Her short story is here. You don't want to miss it.
