Italy's Matteo Trentin eased past veteran José Rojas of Movistar to win stage 10 of this year's Vuelta, claiming his second stage and Quick - Steps' 4th, further showing their dominance this season.
Trentin proved himself to be the strongest of a 20-man breakaway that animated the 164km long stage from Caravaca de la Cruz to Alhama de Murica. The Italian all-rounder, a very similar rider to that of Peter Sagan, showed his uphill abilities after reaching the final summit of the 1st category climb first, with the other breakaway men arriving in dribs and drabs. Rojas opened up the final sprint after the long descent, but Trentin also showed his sprinting capabilties by breezing past the Spaniard to take the stage win.
Roche capped a fine display by coming home 29 seconds in front of the main field to draw almost level with 2nd placed Esteban Chaves. No big talking points elsewhere, however.
