HEARTINi's Cycling for STEEM #4: Bike Ride to Camp Sinai, Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal

in cycling •  7 years ago  (edited)

Good day to all my Steemians Family and fellow Cyclist, today I'd like to share with you my ride to San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines on a particular location that is famous for riders like us, but for me, this is my first time riding there, so join me as I unfold my adventure packed painstaking ride to Camp Sinai, Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal Philippines.

We started at around 5:30 in the morning, it's quite late to start this 47km ride, so we immediately ride out as soon as our friend got there in the meeting place,

So you can see here lining up, who is the most prepared for this ride, from best to worst hahaha

We took a different route than what we usually take when we go to Rizal area, we pedal our way to EDSA, then Congressional, a diversion that leads back to our usual route, just a bit longer, so we arrived at Antipolo, and we stop to drink some water and wait for the tailing group,

Why so serious? hahaha

So we once again continue our way, I once rode a bike to Antipolo City on a different route thru Sumulong Highway, but this time we go straight to the mountains haha,
DSC_1166.jpg

And because this is a climb, I became part of the tailing group, haha good thing in this group, we know each other's limit so we try our best to give support to one another,
DSC_1167.jpg
we came across a Coconut drink stall, we stop and buy some drink, because halfway thru, we eventually drank all our water on this ride haha

14570307_10207182872345581_7174095652045241056_n.jpg
and this is also one of the reasons we, on the tailing group, are so slow to make a chase of the leading group haha

As we go on our way up there, sometimes we stop for a picture, so we eventually came across some familiar faces,

Being able to see different faces during this ride is kind of refreshing, they give off some good vibes on you to keep on moving,

and before reaching the top, where we will turn to Sapinit road to our destination,
DSC_1176.jpg
we took a rest, and take a moment to appreciate this view and photograph my bike along with it
DSC_1180.jpg
better be careful taking a picture, you don't want to fall from this heights,
DSC_1187.jpg

On this part, I asked them, are we near our destination, because they told us, once we turn to Sapinit Road, It will be near, our destination that is, I now realized it was another 6km climb to our destination, they just keep on saying, we're near the location just to make us move forward little by little, and so we reached another checkpoint or should I say photo break haha

one by one, we arrived,

at last another break from that tiring climb, haha that joy I have haha

On my background is the Heaven's Gate Memorial Garden,

once again I let Thompson take a rest, while we wander around looking for a good spot to take a picture,
DSC_1218.jpg

This is Michael, one of the veterans in our group of jolly rogers,
DSC_1209.jpg

We discovered a small springlike waterfalls hiding on the side of the road, so we did not let the moment slip by,
DSC_1227.jpg
what do you expect,
DSC_1224.jpg

and we discovered Michael's hidden modelling talent,
DSC_1230.jpg

DSC_1237.jpg
now, it's time to wrap things up here, we yet have a mountain to climb, time for the obligatory all together photo,

So we continued our way up to Sapinit Road climbing this mountain really taken its toll on our body,
14696978_120300000628677771_1683122310_n_InPixio.jpg
but still, what a shot!! Thanks, Romeo Bataller for taking great photos of me while painstakingly climbing this road, haha

After everything has been said and done, our journey nearing its end for we almost reached our goal that day, and the only thing that is blocking our way is this steep climb to Camp Sinai, oh and also an entrance fee that I forgot, but its kinda cheap to enter this area, so, no problem with that, its just this gruesome climb haha
DSC_1289.jpg
It was as if telling us to turn back home, but that didn't break our heart,

but first I once again let Thompson take a rest,
DSC_1290.jpg

Good thing I know my limit, I tried to somehow climb a bit, but the moment my tires touch the pavement, I got down my bike and pushed it all the way up there,
DSC_1248.jpg

even just climbing it on foot is very tiring, what more if I tried climbing it on my bike, haha
DSC_1247.jpg

There's no competition here, so there's no problem carrying your bike up there, just smile, and appreciate the view up there, this could've been me,
DSC_1252.jpg
if only there's flat road ahead haha but this is the reality,
DSC_1253.jpg

At long last, I was able to reach the top, Camp Sinai, what a view,
14741087_120300000626793226_98285214_n_InPixio.jpg

Just then I realized why it is called Camp Sinai,
14708305_10209498190524687_54223995315012324_n.jpg

So we did not waste any more time and started to look around for good spot,
14658452_120300000629271675_1855610994_n_InPixio.jpg

Thompson, rest if you must but never quit on me now baby,
DSC_1256.jpg

The view here is superb,
DSC_1260.jpg
Mountains, clouds and everything under the mountains, just seeing that can make this heart go wow!
DSC_1281.jpg

and of course, I've taken the obligatory bike photography of mine,
DSC_1267.jpg

here's Thompson leaning on this giant Ten Commandment Stone Wall,
DSC_1270.jpg

and also my beloved Thompson looking at the mountains,
DSC_1272.jpg

and also watching these village folk, while he carries those harvested leaves
DSC_1273.jpg

As we sit idly on this overlooking terrace at the top of Camp Sinai, we laughed at each other's experience while riding our way up here at the Camp,
DSC_1282.jpg

Looking back on how painful it is to climb here, it was on my mind that I really want to go back here,
DSC_1284.jpg

And so, our one day adventure comes to an end, we will be seeing you again Camp Sinai,

Whoa! You guys are tough! Congratulations for making it there and I am relieved no one fainted along the way. I just can't imagine myself doing what you do. Biking just never crossed my mind, simply because I don't know if I have the stamina to do it. (laughs)

I just remembered your post when you and your cycling buddies went to Morong, Bataan. Those climbs were not a joke. So again, kodus to you and your bike buddies :)

Thanks be to God, we're able to pull that off, it's a tough job to do, but with God's help, we're made it back alive, thanks @cestlag25
