Ride #63, 2018. Surreal ride in and out of the thunder and somehow missed the rain 10.9 miles #bikingseason #iliketoridemybicycle #gooutside #gratitude #happify #freedom #movingmeditation #exhale #ridethru #cycling4steemit #roadbiking #steemitactivity

Thunder started as I reached the top of my loop and I got a light drizzle, but not the storm I was expecting. I heard the rain whooshing in on either side as I rode, even felt the wind on my face like the rain was about to hit, but each time, I somehow rode past it. About 2 minutes after I got home, it absolutely POURED.

You were lucky with your ride, @mollyparti, the photographs of the clouds are pretty dramatic.

The route look steep with the number of hairpin bends, is this a training ride?

Thanks! Yeah the clouds and whooshing sound of rain were intense, I really did get lucky. Today I got wet, but no thunder.

This route is definitely steep & bendy as hell, but beautiful and fun. I'm not really training for anything besides summer when I ride longer distances, and I'd love to get to Mount Mitchell (highest point east of the Mississippi at 6,684 ft) https://www.ncparks.gov/mount-mitchell-state-park

I made it to Craggy Garden & a little beyond last year, but I couldn't do that last 10 miles. I'm really lucky that I can ride out from my apartment and be on the parkway in about 10 miles! There is literally NOWHERE flat to ride tho haha!

Thanks for the link to Mount Mitchell State Park @mollyparti. The scenery looks fantastic, we were lucky enough to visit Yosemite a few years ago and that was equally stunning.
Good luck in getting to Mount Mitchell this summer.
