We're pretty close to a presidential election. That gets the most attention.
Can we take a breath and look at district attorneys?
The DA in my county, which is supposed to be a Republican, tough on crime county, decided to retract the attempted murder charge on a chase that's clearly, obviously, and confessed to be an attempted murder.
This is something that we gloss over with every election. We seem to think that voting for governors, senators, and local congressman is more important than voting for a DA.
DAs get to decide whether you get off scot free, or if you're going to face the rest of your life behind bars.
A good DA would have looked at the facts of the Jose Alba case, and let him go on with his life. A good DA would have looked at the facts of the Daniel Penny case, and let Penny go about his life. A good DA would have looked at Kyle Rittenhouse, and let him go about his life. A good DA would have looked at Husayn Braveheart, and prosecuted him for felony murder.
DAs have a ton of freaking power over individual lives.
I actually care more about who gets elected as a DA in my district than the fucking president.
