Incentives, gamification, referral benefits that scale over time? — I mean there is so many processes that ‘growth hackers’ use that I’m sure we could employ here — we have a bunch of fragmented ways of people doing it but I can see people feeling deflated after the last nine months of crypto winter, it’s certainly having that effect on people that I know we need more people onboard, what’s happening with hf20/velocity anyway?
fresh new users needed massively across the board
I remember when twitter first burst onto the scene, I got my anniversary tweet out this morning after TWELVE YEARS — wow, that’s a very long time for a startup and a ‘first mover’ platform to be around, it really re-inforced the need for change too, that’s way too long for me to be using a platform and it’s about time I really embraced the new.
I’ve already shut down my instagram and I’m only using my twitter really now to tweet out blog posts and other things I see for the steem blockchain community, I rarely have conversations like I used to at the start, but then at the start it was also launched at a physical event I was at — it opened up for the first time a public phone book of people we wanted to follow.
Now, after all those years it’s obvious that the ‘social’ we have today is just a mess, it’s far better to have those physical people you can see one on one than trying to even have dialogs across the web — I’m certain that the future is decentralised in approach to everything, power generation, food, everything — it’s time to really deep dive into those things.
I’m really looking forward to seeing some of those same people jump ship from those platforms into ones that have been peer recommended to them, I’ve already seen a few people come across but that’s where the comms have stopped, I’m just trying to find the projects and teams that I think I can add value too.
Even thou we are in a crypto winter where ‘nothing’ appears to be happening and the ‘fate’ of the bitcoin hasn’t been decided yet that’s hard to bring people across because of the feeling of negativity about digital and life in general — it’s hard to get people excited about 77 cent steam, it kinda looks like a bit of a waste of time and I think if it was not for the content here and some of the amazing vision and opinions of some steemians that I avidly read I would have probably got bored. …
. .. and that’s the area I’d like to help fix because there is SO MUCH good here as well, so many little splinter projects that if they came together as a conduit to all areas of the chain then maybe that would attract people who are still very much aligned with centralised processes — it’s a lot to ask for people to leave the comfort of facebook’s news feed, it’s just. .. well familiar I guess…
Yes. .. we have many frontends to the chain but it seems like people are competing with features and looks and we have 10x of them, confusing people all the more — maybe we need more resolution on the frontend of condenser seeing as a bunch of people still come in the front door via steemit, it’s certainly desperate for a rebrand/rework with the latest technology, I hope this is something coming..
ALSO. .. .
. .. behind the scenes I’m unbundling email account & social sites
Wow, I had no idea how many sites I had signed up to over the last five year, hundreds and hundreds and it was time to clear that down, like clear down the analog and the digital — it’s work, because who knows what I might of some of these things, I wanna try and get to point where I have like a small notebook of a handful of sites instead of just rely on the cloud to keep my logins, it’s dumb and I don’t need all that stuff (if I’m being truthful to myself) and recently I realise that unbundling means ALL AREAS of my life.
I could be doing this for months, ugh, fresh start, fresh year eh? Maybe!
