so yesterday i had a good little spurt forward on the amplify steem project i started a year ago. i had been waiting for hf20 to launch and the hope that we would be able to expend some of our steem/mana/faith on creating accounts. the litecoin scrypt mining had been scrapped at some point over the last year so i was waiting to see how that was gonna turn out.
now i know that i’d probably need a separate account with over 50k SP to be able to ‘mine’ effectively 10 accounts a week i’ve gotta come up with a better solution and get more feedback on my release structure — i’ve quickly thrown together a site.
i’ve got a good idea for the release of the information and how to hopefully keep some retention/engagement going for the new user — it’s gonna need a big push from me to get the content, text, tips and video together but i think i could have something by the end of the month.
my current thinking is to use some of the social media campaign tools that i used to use when i was doing courses early on in skillshare, the wonderful drip for the initial onboard stage where all we take is an email of interest and then slow drip feed a user with a bit of background, some links to check out, more links to video that they can go at in their own time and just general quick ‘grab a coffee’ and step through it, not too long and an easy little task to do each day to learn a little more.
my initial worries were about spammers so i’ve kinda framed it in such a way that i would invite media makers that i know or have seen already and get them interested in the blockchain, if they want to come onboard then i’ll happily set them up with a free steem account — i’m hoping the drip campaign will be enough to keep them interested and learning a new thing about the chain, of course i can keep an eye on fall off rates and keep adjusting the releases to optimising the needs of the user.
i’m considering maybe multiple paths of release of information too because i have eight key areas of people i want to specifically onboard, they are in my original post from a year ago but i’ve put a copy below.
- youtubers that should be here on steemit
- e-residency advocates that should be here
- gamers and clans mainly for a future project (excite!)
- kickstarter projects because steem can facilitate the conversation
- patreon projects have a similar vibe to steemit
- twitch streamers an offline space for the audiences
- brand advocates who inspire me with their work
- van dwellers/digital nomads working from the road
it’s a shame that account creation did not work as i thought it would in hf20 but at least now i have a figure i need to work towards even if that figure is kinda massive — just to make 10 accounts a week — i understand why thou, last thing we need is just spammers making stacks of accounts.
i certainly need to make a separate account dedicated to the amplify project that can afford to take time to recharge after claiming account — i’m sure we will have weeks where we don’t onboard anyone while we recharge and my hope is that we might get some support from the community once we deliver on the intention.
50k of steem power is no joke and that’s a lot of money for what i want to achieve for sure, let’s crack on eh? :)
