Dessert Recipes #6: Apple strudel

in dailyfoodphotography •  7 years ago

Apple strudel is one of my favourite desserts. I love the taste of apple and cinnamon cooked inside the pastry and I cook it very often during autumn and winter. This is probably one of the last strudels of the year, so here's the recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry rectangular roll
  • 750g apples (3 medium apples)
  • 60g brown sugar
  • 60g bread crumbs
  • 50g butter
  • 50g raisins
  • 25g pine nuts
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 2 rhum spoons

Directions

  1. Peel and cut the apple into thin slices putting them into a bowl. Then add the sugar, pine nuts, raisins, rhum, cinnamon and mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Melt the butter into a frying pan, then add the bread crumbs and let them brown for a couple of minutes.
  3. Roll the puff pastry dough and make it as thin as you can, this is really important to obtain a good result. Then spread the bread crumbs on it
  4. Spread the apple mixture on the top and make a roll sealing the edges. To help you obtain a strudel with a browny color you can brush your unbaked crust with beaten egg.
  5. Cook in pre-heated ventilated oven for about 40 minutes at 180°.
