Meetings with a friend
sharing the gifts of spirit
drawing us forward
Cori MacNaughton
Recently I've begun meeting weekly with a friend in Cookeville, half an hour north of us, which we have both been enjoying immensely. Today she called to cancel, as she had other pressing matters, so instead we talked on the phone for an hour and a half . . . so we had our chat anyway, albeit via telephone. Nice to connect again with someone who speaks my language.
This haiku I wrote a few days ago, in honor of her, and of our meetings.
The photo is of a cactus I grew from a couple of pads brought back from the Keys, which made me think of her, since we were comparing notes on our trips to the Keys as we both lived in Florida for a number of years. It was probably taken with my Canon SX 30 iS.
It is, unfortunately, no longer with us, as Marek convinced me to plant it beside the entrance to our driveway, next to the road, and it didn't survive our winter. I do have a smaller one, that I kept in a pot, which I will be moving to a larger clay pot this spring. Hopefully it will be happy enough to bloom as well.

A gorgeous photo and haiku, Cori:)
