Good evening everyone! Today's daily nature tidbit is a close up look at a few dangerous serpents. I wanted to share a few photos of a friend's private collection.
^^^Vogel's Pit Viper (Trimeresurus vogeli)
I've been involved with reptiles for just under 15 years now, even having an all-reptile pet shop for several years. In all that time, however, I never got involved with keeping venomous snakes. Now don't get me wrong, I love these animals.... I just never found keeping them to be worth the risk of potentially getting bit by one. In fact, my favorite snake is a Gaboon Viper, but they also have the longest fangs of all snake species reaching 2 inches and can pump a ton of venom into ya.
^^^Sri Lankan Pit Viper (Trimeresurus trigonocephalus)
These photos were taken with a Nikon D90. I don't really remember what type of lens. I'm not a photographer, by any means! What I do know is I had to get close enough to these critters that I was slightly nervous about it. Looking through the viewfinder makes you forget the reality of whats right in front of you sometimes.
^^^Eyelash Viper (Bothriechis schlegelii)
Thanks for taking a look at these vipers! You can enjoy them from he safety of your computer screen, like me. See you tomorrow. :) - Adam

They were all surprisingly patient with having my lens in their face!
