Breakdancing - a style I grew up with

Breaking or also called b-boying, is a so-called athletic street dance genre. The dance itself is kind of old but came popular in the US and Europe in the 1970s. Some of the pioneers were the members of Rock Steady Crew who claimed to be influenced by the King of Funk James Brown as well as some Kung Fu movies. The dance included a lot acrobatic moves and you have to really fit to dance it in style. Early first Breaking style have been created / dance in the 19th century already.

It was commonly popular in Afro American and Puerto Rican youth scene, members of street gangs did the dance mostly influenced by Hiphop. In the 70ies it hit the media and started to conquer the world. The above video shows some awesome moves - and in the following some of the great Breakdance Music Videos in the following that I learned when I was young (even I never been a Street Gang Member) by Rock Steady Crew and Shannon.
