Imagine...
a future where all websites that are powered by WordPress have a full integration with the Steem Blockchain. Upvotes, Comments, Articles, ReSteem...wherever you go on the web, it is now tokenized.
The future my friends...is now!
SteemPress - Steem DApp Review
What is it?
The idea behind SteemPress is that since 30% of all websites are powered by Wordpress(about 70 Million), why not create a way for established authors to automatically have their article integrated into the Steem platform?
For now, in version 1, SteemPress simply repost your wordpress blogs on your steem account. But development is happening and the future looks bright.
Why not just jump on steemit or steempeak?
Many people do not have their own blogs and for those people, steemit.com and other UI are just perfect. It gives people a free way to jump into the game.
But, one major advantage of having a Wordpress website is that you are able to completely customize the look and feel of what your readers will see.
You can add call-to-actions, have contact forms, lead capture, share buttons, banners, etc.
Also, your self-hosted WordPress website is your property. If you take blogging seriously, you have to own your blog.
As you build a reputation, traffic, and authority...you get to keep it, no matter what happens to third-party social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and even the Steem Blockchain.
What Steem Gains From This?
SteemPress may not be the best for steemit.com or steempeak.com because it takes them out as the first place where articles are written...but it fulfills the full potential of the STEEM blockchain and this is where our focus should be.
We have to stop being myopic about what really is the big vision behind STEEM. We want a full integration at all levels of the content internet. We want that wherever you go, there are tokens that are used to reward authors and commenters.
The long-term vision is best explained by @howo:
Right now steempress is sitll in its infancy, we crosspost but that's it. It's really good to bring quality bloggers to the platform but overall it's still "eh".
The grand vision is to have a two-way integration bring steem onto the wordpress blogs as well...I'm talking upvote button, payout, comments from steem etc
All interaction like on steemit.com or busy. So suddently you no longer go on steemit.com or another front end to consume content, you do that directly on the blog itself!
You can just browse the web and upvote what you like!
Which breaks the whole current situation where STEEM is in a closed environment.
Imagine yourself as a blogger, you see another blog and can't help but wonder what those payout values are. And soon enough you'll join the movement. As a SteemPress blogger, you can incentivize your users to do meaningful comments by upvoting them yourself and thus improve your viewership and get some more reoccurring readers/commenters.
As a normal commenter, you will end up wondering why you are making comments that don't bring you anything when others do earn money...and soon enough they will join too!
That's the grand idea for SteemPress. Have Steem as what it deserves to be, a token powering the web.
DAppCentral.io Rating
This app is incredibly easy to use and setup. All you need is a self-hosted WordPress website along with the plugin. The vision is big and I'm pumped to know that something like that is currently being built.

Steempress is a great way to bring massive awareness to the steem blockchain. If people realize that they can spend a few moment of their time creating and interacting with contents powered by steem and get paid for it directly on wordpress,it would catch on quickly. So I support the idea of word press blogs having the paid upvote, comment features native to steem.

If every member here clicked the 'share' to facebook and twitter button whenever they posted something then this would raise awareness even more.

I've been thinking about using this and you're inching me closer. My concern is about search ratings getting dinged by having the same article come up on two sites. Does SP use the canonical meta tags, and if so, which article gets it, the WP one or the Steemit one?

I like this idea, and it could be huge for Steem, but I have a big reservation as to whether this will ever catch on like hoped/wished-for:
Won't it create a micro-Steemit environment on each Wordpress website, where the author becomes the Whale in the room and all the commentors are tiny, insignificant plankton?
On Steem, I'd say this dynamic puts off most new users - once they realise that their vote counts for almost nothing and the only way to increase their return from Steem is to invest their own money.
As a commentor on a Wordpress site, what incentive is there really going to be to sign-up and earn $0.01 every blue moon, when they can see the content creator earning a fair amount per-post (assuming they have a large, engaged audience)?
I might be missing something, but I can't see the incentive for commentors to get involved.

I think if the sign up process is easy, why not, free registration to get free money, even if it is only once in a while. And more users will be exposed to the STEEM blockchain, so even if they are not interested in the commenting, other DApp may catch their eye. Finally, have to remember that for many countries, a 1 USD vote on a comment that they have written is a lot money. I think this will be great!

I can see the potential and I hope it comes off (there is a huge audience and only a small percentage of the blogs/websites being successful would still be good for Steem. I can see that.
But, I just think that in a micro-community with one whale (the blog author) and lots of tiny stakes (the commenters), the casual commenter isn't likely to get anything out of this.
Just like on Steemit, the smallest users are easily overwhelmed and quickly lose interest when they don't immediately make a lot of money (which they can see others making). It might not be logical, but it's how human nature works.
Overally, it should be good for Steem, but I just can't see it being a "TO THE MOOOOOON!" moment which many are hoping.

No, this is definitely not the to the moon moment. What people need to realise is that steemit is only a small part of the Steem blockchain. It is the development of the many DApps, both related and not related to blog post creating and commenting, that is slowly going to get STEEM there. It will take time.

This idea sounds very good, so you can monetize your website, although it would not be easy since there are millions of websites currently and monetizes all congestionary blockchain websites this is my point of view.

Thats a great update information..I like this thought, and it could be immense for Steem, yet I have a major reservation with reference to whether this will ever get on like trusted/longed for:Won't it make a small scale Steemit condition on each Wordpress site, where the creator turns into the Whale in the room and all the commentors are little, unimportant microscopic fish? On Steem, I'd state this dynamic puts off most new clients - once they understand that their vote means nothing and the best way to build their arrival from Steem is to contribute their own cash.As a commentor on a Wordpress site, what impetus is there extremely going to be to join and acquire $0.01 each blue moon, when they can see the substance designer procuring a decent lot for each post (accepting they have a vast, connected with gathering of people)?I may miss something, yet I can't see the impetus for commentors to get included.so great post one I appreciate your post
So keep it up..

I'm still not convinced by this project to be honest. If the blockchain is the important bit, and I agree that it is, then surely native Dapps are the key. Steempress simply allows a none blockchain traditional app to run on the back of the Steem blockchain.
I get in knots trying to decide what I think about this, and I do see benefits but it also makes me feel uncomfortable on many levels.

If the goal is that the internet of content runs on top of the steem blockchain, a wordpress plugin is at least 1/3 of the solution (since a third of the internet runs on it).

and Wordpress blog owners can simply dump their back catalogue onto Steem and be rewarded? If so, what happened to original content? When I first joined here I posted an article I had written for another website twelve months previously and got 'cheetahed'!
Why can't Wordpress bloggers simply post their content here as well as on Wordpress like many You tubers do ?
Imagine 70million wordpress accounts self-upvoting..........
Thanks

Steempress has quickly become a great tool in the arsenal of most @thewritersblock members, so much so that I have bought multi site hosting to accommodate their WordPress blogs.

Yeah steempress is awesome! For the first time I feel like my hard work in writing a proper travel blog pays off. In the long run, if we can attract users from the WordPress community into STEEM it is going to be huge.
So is DApp.io your blog where you review different DApps out there?

i think the dapps being built on steemit are great. but the question to be asked is what is the incentive for people to deviate from what they are doing today. i think the general assumption seems to be incentivization through money.
the touted value proposition is the ability to pay commenters/followers in cryptocurrency right from their web sites. i have been saying from the beginning that this approach is farcical for a number of reasons:
i am convinced that steemit can do one of two things: attract great content creators or become a centralized curation pool for the world. both require less tech effort and increased business vision.
i am sure that we will see sense and find our way eventually
