FAQ: How much Dash does the creator of Dash own?

in dash •  7 years ago  (edited)
I think this information came to be as Evan Duffield was asked about the social contributions from Dash which are planned for the future during the open house in Arizona earlier today, though I can't say for sure what the context was because I gave up on the YouTube stream; the audio wasn't very good at the time.

I'll try to post the actual video later so you don't have to take my word for it.

So how much Dash does its creator own?

Many have used this question to try to create doubt when it comes to transparency and the fairness of the network's distribution. Evan claims to have 256k Dash at the moment, you do the math if you want to convert to dollars or something else, hopefully soon we won't have to convert Dash into anything that is not goods and services.

My prediction about Dash was wrong, not the part about it being the future of business for that hasn't changed, but the jump in price I expected earlier this week.

I'm not worried about it though, in fact, I get more excited the lower Dash goes. I have the feeling that the next rise that we witness will be memorable.

he owns 256,000 Dash. He no longer owns masternodes and he announced yesterday that he plans to give away 4/5 to develop DAOs.

It's actually worse that he sold his dash. I like to see high insider ownership like buffet. The instamine critique was always stupid. Founders of all companies "instamine". My only solace is that he sold it to appease the critiques. I would like to see him own some master nodes though to put his money where is mouthbis. If evolution is so great he should own more. Imagine how many dash daos he could fund next year if evolution pans out .

Who is saying Evan has sold his Dash? He did say he took his masternodes down but I don't remember him talking about selling, can you tell me where you heard this?

But sadly that won't stop FUDers from saying he has more than he's claiming to have and that he's lying about giving away most of it and taking down his MNs...I don't know what his intentions are but if he is doing this because of the insta-controversy then I gotta give him credit because if anyone deserves to profit, accidentally or not, is him.

Mr. Duffield created DASH so why shouldn't he be rich. He earned it. And of course he can do what he wants with his wealth. I know some folks question the instamine, but I don't care.

If people don't care about what Satoshi has kept, not knowing who this person is, or all the money confiscated from SilkRoad by gov...nobody even mentions Mt. Gox anymore...

I honestly couldn't care less how much he's keeping. Thanks for commenting @chessmonster!

It actually worries me he sold ahead of evolution.

Again, who besides you is saying that he sold?

Ah sweet
