A database administrator is a key person responsible for the design,implementation,maintenance,and repair of an organizations database.Their role includes the development and design of database strategies,monitoring and improving database performance and capacity and planning for future expansion requirements.Database administrator's activities can be listed as below.

  1. Maintaining database and ensuring its availability to users.
  2. Controlling Privileges and permission to data base users
  3. Monitoring database performance
  4. Database backup and recovery
  5. Database security
