This week, I'd say the highlighted theme would be about juggling. Not literally or physically. What I meant by juggling was that we took a multi-layered approach when going through our script. We went between the lines, over and under and in between. Basically, we tore them apart then put the pieces back in together. That's where it all started to make more sense on what the characters' intentions were, how they impacted the other characters. Also, to make sure how lines and parts would impact the audience. For me, it didn't feel like a simple process but rather a complex one. We had to make sure the lines had to come out as funny, serious, happy or other feelings to be resonated within the audience. Once we put the pieces in together, that's when it all came to place for us. I admit it was an excruciating process but I understood what needed to be done.
My other challenge was use of tones in my lines because of how the words come out have different impact. Some lines need to come out as funny for the audience to hear. Or I need to have some of the right words that has more emphasis to fit the intent of the character's relationship with the others.
I have to say I learned this process is a beautiful thing to see. Kind of like the art of emotions. We bring out the emotions on stage and we toy around with them and use them to impact the audience in certain ways. This process is exciting for me. Makes me even more anxious to perform next week! In a good way that is.
And, I just realized I'll be performing next week! The opening night will be at the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre! I'm nervous, excited and looking forward to that!
Just so you know, there will be 2 nights where the play, Tribes, will be interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) on October 21, 2017 and October 26, 2017.
You can book tickets to watch through www.wjt.ca! It's great that we have this show to make it inclusive for everyone to enjoy! Have your family and friends to come out and watch us perform! Looking forward to perform! See you all next week!
