Being deaf is quite difficult, especially when you're a deaf that's been mainstreamed, meaning you went to a regular school with regular teachers and grew up mostly around the hearing. I didn't learn ASL until my early 20's as nobody really taught it to me, had to learn it on my own, worse yet high schools, colleges and universities don't also carry the course for teaching ASL or PSE for that matter.
These days I will use PSE since it accompanies English very well. ASL feels too janky for me because it's literally like talking like Yoda from Star Wars. I'm not kidding either.
Being deaf in a world designed around those with normal hearing, it's overall a pain in the royal ass. Also don't get me started on live feeds of officials with fake ASL interpreters that are just aimlessly waving their hands about in the air pretending like they're saying something when they're not.
