DEAR ABBY...STEEMIT STYLE. ($5 SP to the winning question.)

in dearabby •  8 years ago  (edited)

I see a lot of dating advice articles on Steemit. But what I don’t see a lot of is GOOD dating advice. So I thought what I would do is start a DEAR ABBY column.

For those of you who don’t know, “Dear Abby” is a column in the newspaper that people used to write into every week asking sticky questions. The editor of the column, Abigail Van Buren (AKA Jeanne Phillips), would pick a letter to respond to, and the following week the newspaper would publish the question and her response to it.

It was a hit in the 70’s and 80’s, when Pauline Phillips (Jeanne’s mother) authored the column. It lost momentum over the years, but now it appears to be alive and kicking on the Chicago Sun Times and uexpress.com via blog.

So, whadya say! Throw your most perplexing problem at me in the comment section, and I’ll publish my hopefully helpful response in a following post. For this pilot, I am awarding $5 SP to the winning question.

It doesn’t have to be about dating either. I can handle just about anything. Just keep it SFW please.

Not sure how to take your date to the next level? Heartbroken and can't seem to GET a date? Don't know how to ask for that promotion from your boss? Need advice on how to handle your in-laws this Christmas?

Give me your best shot. I look forward to giving you mine!

I think this is a great idea. I tried to come up with a question, but it is late. I will try harder tomorrow!

Looking forward to it! I've already posted my first response, but I'd love more questions! So keep it coming!

My favorite advice column has an evolutionary biology niche.

How about this:
My son is totally addicted to anime and manga and doesn't want to read anything else. Pretty good problem to have, I realize, but how to expand his literary horizons?

Dear plotbot2015, your question was chosen as the winning question of the day! (This might come as a surprise, considering the dozens of others). You will heretofore be awarded with $5 SP. But I need to figure out how it's done. Please bear with me. Or give me pointers. Either one will do.

Also you ask a great question. I look forward to responding soon. Be sure to follow me so you know when it posts.

Thanks! I am already following you.

As for the transfer, go to your wallet. Click on the little triangle next to your Steem Dollars (or whichever one you want to transfer) and select Transfer from the drop-down menu. Put in the amount and include a reason in the memo if you want. Then after you click Transfer, you will have to authenticate the transaction with one of your crypto-keys.

Open another wallet window and click Permissions so you can see the keys. The keys shown by default are not your actual keys. You have to click the "show private key" button and then cut-&-paste that key into the authentication field. I was pretty confused by the process the first time myself.

OK. I'm going to go watch an episode of "Stranger Things." Then I'll hop to it. Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome.
