Merry Christmas - Federal Debt Up $1.37 Trillion Since Just Last Christmas!!!

in debt •  6 years ago

That breaks down to over $10,000 per household yet nobody seems to care.

The federal government has added another $1,370,760,684,441.54 to the US national debt since last December 25, according to numbers published by the U.S. Treasury HERE and this is just the debt they admit to. This doesn't include future liabilities that they've committed the American people to in order to get more votes.

Back in 2016, then candidate for President Trump admonished President Obama for the exploding deficits under his administration and rightfully so.

But its always much harder to govern than it is to campaign and Trump is making Obama look like a piker. During one of the largest expansions in economic activity, we are getting exploding deficits. Nobody ever seems to stop and ask what happens to the US budget deficit when we get the next recession? I think we are going to find out soon and it won't be pretty. We will see $3 Trillion dollar gaps very soon.

Have to wonder if the debt even matters as the currency is not backed by anything, they can create new money out of thin air into eternity.

It will matter eventually...no unbacked currency has ever survived long term.
