More Turning To Decentralization As A SolutionsteemCreated with Sketch.

We see a lot of security threats out there. Each day, we learn of hacks or other security lapses that are causing problems.

Zoom is the latest to make headlines.

Initially, the company was the darling of Wall Street as usage took off. With most people stuck at home, remote work has escalated. Zoom was a platform many turned to for video conferencing.

This was short-lived as the company came under fire for its security lapses. People were able to hack into conversation, causing a host of problems. There are also accusations that Zoom is essentially Malware on people's computers.

It is obvious that video conferencing is going to be growing over the next few years. So, are we forced to accept the security flaws?

Not necessarily. Here is where decentralization enters the picture.

Debrief is the answer.

This is a solution being created by the founder of Vonage, the VOIP service provider, Jeff Pulver.

According to Pulver, the problem with existing communication solutions is that they route all business and personal data through one central point. This creates a huge security threat to confidential information.

Pulver’s latest project, Debrief, addresses this issue by implementing encryption, data storage and authentication on the blockchain. Debrief itself retains virtually no user information, as everything is decentralized.

This is a solution that the world needs. With each year, we are seeing how security is simply not up to expectations. Decentralization offers a better options in many instances.

Does this mean the future is decentralized?

It could be. As we progress forward technologically, more is going to be apt to hack and security breaches. This means companies offering services are going to require ways to enhance security.

One of the keys to decentralization is the lack of a single point of access. In centralized systems, once someone accesses the system, all is available. It is a treasure trove of data.

Debrief also adds another layer using hashing as a means of security.

This also prevents hacking or tampering with information once that data is hashed onto the network. Any attempt to edit information on one recipient’s device would be rejected by the other devices on the network.

We are starting to see a wave of decentralized alternatives to what is used on a regular basis. This is going to present people with, not only options, but enhanced security.

As Zoom tries to fix the flaws in their system, Debrief is in beta with 3,000 people testing out a decentralized solution.

Hope it will scale well. Scaling is always a problem for a block-chain solutions (

But zoom is trash anyway )
