What is democracy? Why a democracy prospers? What are the benefits of a democracy? These are some of the questions came to mind when we see the unrest boiling in many autocratic countries. Democracies prosper as the power of decision and governing is decentralized to different levels, in the hands of people to be governed. Much of this power is unseen with no direct impact on the general governing, but the source of power still remains with the people (distributed). Dictatorship is something where power is held by a central agency or a person whose proportion of participation in total power remains high compared to power to the general public. Now power is not what we are looking at to decrypt the democracy, only power does not change the fate of a nation; nor does nominal distribution of power. But with real distributed power comes the same level of responsibility, this responsibility plays the major roles in making or breaking of a nation.
Wherever major power is centralized to a single agency or the person, the responsibility gets concentrated on the same agency this makes the nation unstable, the responsibility of millions is resting upon a single agency or a person, with none of those million people responsible for their actions. This changes the behavior of people to irrational or says irresponsible. It’s always impossible to manage a million irresponsible people by few powerful people. As people get to know that, by being powerless they can be irresponsible the equation starts changing. Their awareness of their irresponsibility starts transferring the power from one to many. This can be called as awakening in common language.
If we take a look at democracy, where power has been distributed to many directly or indirectly, it distributes the responsibility as well. In a democracy proportion of power and responsibility is evenly distributed. The media who have full freedom has the power and thus the responsibility. Responsibility makes people rational; they generally do not take irrational or irresponsible decisions which will harm their power. Thus a responsible society takes rational decisions which make positive impact on their growth and in turn increase their power in proportion with distributed responsible power.
Good Luck !!!

Democracy is in reality the tyranny of the majority, slight as that majority might be.
