Our biggest problem is a confusion in terminology. The free market of voluntary, mutually-beneficial exchanges and a grassroots decentralized information network of prices is antithetical to centralized government controls, but both are termed "capitalism." Never mind that taxation, price controls, trade restrictions, subsidies, bailouts, sweetheart government contracts, regulatory capture, etc. are all 100% contrary to the market process. The socialists insists that these somehow are natural consequences of the free market despite the complete absence of causal relationship.
