This is a set of poster design concepts I did for the San Francisco International Film Festival. Ultimately after input from my peers I decided to go in a different directions, but I still really like this first set.
I used textures from corrugated cardboard to draw attention to the fact that film, even though it is an art form, is also a mass produced product. But when combined with imagery from classic films, it is also reminiscent of a heavy velvet curtain like they have in fancier old fashioned movie theaters.
Get in close and feel that texture.
The deep maroon really emphasizes that curtain feel, and who doesn't like Taxi Driver?
