And who would ever have said so. According to a recent research conducted by Booking. com, in fact, half of travelers - 56% - who return from the enthusiastic holidays of the structure in which they stayed, decides to make a restyling of their home. One third of them claim to have found the interior design of their accommodation so beautiful that they spent more time there than expected while 70% of travellers choose the accommodation according to the design, style and atmosphere, which must be different from that of their home.

Travelers want to feel so much like they are still on holiday that a third of them (32%) say they want to renovate their home furnishings because they hope that they can relive the beautiful moments of their journey. 1 out of 5 travellers (21%) like to recreate the holiday atmosphere in their apartment. 44% of the interviewees, in addition to drawing inspiration from accommodation, take inspiration from the style of their destination: among the most popular "inspiring muses" are Helsinki (Finland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Eindhoven (Netherlands), Graz (Austria) and Milan (Italy), i. e. the 5 destinations of the world most recommended for design by Booking. com travellers.

In addition, for 4 out of 10 participants (32%) the furnishing of the accommodation is a very important factor: 3 out of 10 interviewees (29%) said they spent more time in the accommodation than they had planned, precisely because they very much appreciated the furnishing (for Indian and Chinese travellers this percentage is 60% and 56% respectively).

For the vast majority of travellers (70%), the most important factor in choosing the accommodation to spend their holidays is that it has a different decor and style from their own home. Two-thirds (57%) of survey respondents like to stay in a completely different environment to enjoy their holidays.

The experiences we live on holiday can accompany us all my life, thanks to a memory, the purchase of an object or the inspiration with which we return home. The passion for interior design unites travelers from all over the world, and it's great to come home with new ideas inspired by the accommodation we stayed in on holiday,"said Pepijn Rijvers, Chief Marketing Officer at Booking. com.
