Treap Bai Thouren – Sticky Rice with Durian

Durian is smelly fruit that originate from Borneo, and the name Durian is believed from Malaysian significance spines, in view of the spikes on the external fruit. It's the most costly, and the most delicious fruit in Asia. You can find durian plantations in many provinces of Cambodian such as Kampot, Kampong Cham, Sihanouk, Siem Reap, Pailin and Battambang.

   

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup of glutinous rice.
  • 2 cups of fresh coconut milk. 
  • 1 piece of durian flesh. 
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt. 
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar. 

How to make it:  

  1. Wash and rinse the glutinous rice with clean water. Drain in a colander. 
  2. In a cooking pan, steam the glutinous rice with 1 cup of coconut milk on high heat around 50 minutes. 
  3. Let it cool down. Put it into three bowls. 
  4. In another bowl, add about of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the durian flesh and stir it well.  
  5. Simmering till the sauce reduces. 
  6. Immediately pour the sauce over sticky rice. 
  7. Add 1/2 cup of fresh coconut milk over sauce. 
  8. Sticky rice with durian is ready.
