My hands and fingers are recuperating from various intense gaming sessions as Destiny 2 Forsaken launched with much to do. Many of my friends told me that they feel like it is finally getting to feel like a real MMORPG with the way they have set activities up this time around. As I have never played one before, I can definitely tell you that the grind has been real as I have played this for hours to still find myself deciding on the best path forward to continue upgrading my character. It feels great because I finally feels like there will always be something left to do rather than going through the same routine week after week.

The gameplay with the changes made in the previous patch seem to integrate very well with the launched game. You can also see that the community has come back to support the game as many open areas are now populated once again with guardians seeking the next best gear. I even ran into a group doing an Escalation Protocol from the last DLC to its end for the first time in months! I think this also has to do with the great decision to actually put the base Destiny 2 game available for free for Playstation Plus members. There are a lot of low level characters out in the wild and it is great to help them too every once in a while!

Regarding the story, it has definitely improved but still was a little too short for my taste in a campaign. I think a lot was missing on how the villain got there and how the Reef came to have these creatures lurking around it. I would imagine that most of that information is now in the expanding lore that is finally in game but I have not had the chance to go through it because I have been so busy playing the game. I also suspect that there is still much to discover in the new areas of the game available from this DLC, including added story when the Raid is completed.

My preliminary assessment has me happy and has my friends engaged by playing daily which is great because it has been a while since enjoying Destiny with friends every night. Additions like Gambit and the Well in the Dreaming City seem to add a great level of replayability that is both fun and rewarding. Now, let’s see how the game fairs with the lineup of games set to launch in the coming weeks.

Thanks!
