Mein Wunder, es ist heut gescheh'n,
es ist mir wie ein Traum.
Ich hab mich lang danach gesehnt,
als altermorscher Baum.
Ich war vor Sorgen so verbrämt,
in Selbstmitleid versunken.
Hab der Tränen mich geschämt,
bin fast darin ertrunken.
Wie oft war ich verlor'n, allein, l
es fehlte Freud und Mut.
Im Unglück erst hab ich erkannt,
den kleinen Funken Glut.
Wer blies ihn an, dass Feuer ward,
so heiß wie nie zuvor;
und endlich fängt zu brennen an,
was ich schon fast verlor.
Es brennt in mir mit großer Kraft,
so hell, dass mir nun scheint,
dass endlich ich erkennen kann,
warum man so oft weint.
