Thanks @gtg for your node

Thank you very much !

I'm trying to automatically compile a status-report for german language content.
I was using the public API node.steem.ws to gather all data from the last 24 hours.
It was so awfully slow, that it would have taken almost another 24 hours.

Then I remembered, that I had seen a post by @gtg:

gtg.steem.house runs a full node with a public steem API

node.steem.ws (top) -- VS-- gtg.steem.house:8090 (bottom)

In the screencapture above, you can see, how terribly slow the public Steem node can be.
In this case it's not doing anything.

I haven't yet found a better way, than to go through all operations that happened in the last 24 hours on the Steem blockchain. This now takes a few minutes and my report is finished (I have yet to bring it into a nice format, so I can automatically post it)
Since it looked like the script is frozen, I decided to print each operation's timestamp on the screen, while the script goes through them.
It creates a nice matrix movie effect, too. (I should have maybe changed the colors to green on black)

If i had not already voted for @gtg witness, I would certainly do it now.

With some witnesses I don't even know, what they are doing ...
But this is certainly a helpful service.
I hope he can keep it up.

Thank you for your vote, I am glad that this service is helpful.
As for node.steem.ws - it is a great service too.
Mine might be not that heavily used (yet).
Anyway, if you encounter any performance issues please let me know.

I wasn't sure, if it would be a good idea to spread the word on this.
The more attention it gets, the slower it will be for me :)

But my little service that I am working on, wouldn't be possible without it; I felt like showing some gratitude :)

That is exactly its purpose.
More good projects = better platform = more growth = better nodes :-)
I will do my best to keep it well performing.

He makes sure other witness nodes are also performing well. Should be voted by every steemian IMO :)

Glad to see you called attention to @gtg 's node.

If anyone wantgs to take @felixxx 's advice, go to this page:

https://steemit.com/~witnesses

and look for @gtg 's name on the Witnesses list. As I write, @gtg is at position #7.

Then, just click the arrow to vote & confirm by Authenticating.

That's what I just did. :)

Thank you :-)

Hey, glad to!

I was also using it for the past few days, it was quite handy to have around.

No. 6 now :)

@gtg Thanks for your service!
