The Mata Mandir located in Dewas is also called Devas Mata Mandir. Situated on Tekri, this temple of Bhavani is very famous, there are two goddesses in the temple, one of which is known as Tulja Bhavani and the other is known as Chamunda Devi.Tulja Bhavani is also called the younger mother and Chamunda Devi is also called the elder mother. The local people here say that there was a sister relationship between the elder mother and the younger mother. Once there was a fight between the two over something. Due to the dispute, both the sisters started leaving their place.It is said that the elder mother got angry and started sinking into the Hades and left the younger Tekri. Seeing both the mothers angry, Hanuman ji and Bheruba requested them to pacify their anger, but by then half the body of the elder goddess had engulfed in the underworld and she stopped at the tekri in such a situation.
Mata Mandir History
Dewas Mata Temple is considered to be one of the 52 Shaktipeeths. It is said that parts of the mother's body had fallen on other Shaktipeeths of the country, but here the mother's blood had fallen on Tekri, due to which Mother Chamunda Devi had appeared here.Chamunda Devi is considered one of the seven major goddesses. Please tell that Tulja Bhavani temple located at Tekri was established by the Marathi royal family and they used to worship Mata as their Kuldevi. Both the mothers are real sisters. It is said that Bharathari, brother of Vikramaditya, did penance. It is said about the temple that this temple is from time immemorial. But there is no evidence of the antiquity of the temple.
