The Second Book of Chronicles begins its historical development with the reign of Solomon until the destruction of the Kingdom of Judah at the hands of the Babylonians.
And Solomon's Reign is described in a very interesting way in the book, the most important goal in the book is to describe Solomon as the most glorious King in the history of Israel; and this fact has a reason for being so in the book, Solomon was the responsible of the construction of the first temple of Jerusalem and the one who established the borders of Israel to its greatest extent, from Syria to Egypt.
The book describes Solomon as a man who feared God, so much so that his first act as king of Israel as recounted in the book was to ask the Lord for wisdom to carry out the enormous task that God had entrusted to him. And this wish of the king shows how the true good of man is the wisdom of God because with her comes all the other blessings for man, such as prosperity, longevity, peace, and happiness.
And one of the most important moments of his reign was when King Solomon finished the temple and took the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, giving with devotion an important speech where he thanked God for his mercy toward Israel:
"My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. But the LORD said to my father David, ´You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.´
´The LORD has kept the promise he made, I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.´" 2 Chronicles 6:7-10.
And this simple speech of Solomon was said with the intention to make clear that it is up to the wise to order society to its greatest good, which is God.
