I am quite elated that there is a brewing possibility that we as dialysis patients here in my country will be covered with 133 sessions per year from my government health insurance (Philhealth). It was a 90 sessions within a year before but right now the government just wants to level it up so that the dialysis needs of patients would get adequately covered in a year.

Now patients will just have to think about where and how they will get their required EPO injections, the injections of hormones required so that their bodies would produce red blood cells to correct anemia. Sometimes patients would just take blood transfusions which is also a hard thing to come by since blood is really expensive to buy.

There are so many expenses that a dialysis patient have to manage like if they have other medical condition like a parathyroid condition, heart disease, or diabetes. The additional expense that the hospital is charging per visit, the antihypertensive medications, anti-coagulants, and the cost of the special dialyzer if the patient is using one.

Anyway the added dialysis sessions per year is obviously a good news for most of my fellow dialysis patients because they will surely be helped with this kind of development regarding patching-up the need to get dialyzed satisfactorily because most needs a frequent session like I do.

I am only not choosing for a three times a week session because I was thinking of my parents too who are just affected when it is my dialysis session days and I do not want to disturb them with all the efforts that they do for me. Plus going for a frequent dialysis also is a burden for me financially as we just have to pay for he extra bills for every dialysis visit not to mention the gas money and the food that we have to prepare.

I do needed a frequent dialysis but I have to make a consideration for other people like my parents plus it will be economical to just go for a twice a week dialysis since it is really hard to pay for the extra bills considering that I do have to think my medical therapy for my parathyroid condition which needs another set of expense that I have to manage.

It is a good news nonetheless and I am happy for my fellow dialysis patients here in my country especially the ones that are just starting to get treated because they will not be as hard-up as I am when I was just starting-up as a dialysis patient where the payment from my treatments came from out of pocket because my parents have no health insurance at that time for me to use. So I was just going for my treatments every five to six days and there are instances that I went once a week and it was hard incomparable to anything but I survived it unfortunately which is why I am still here telling all about it.

Now soon my fellows will just have to only think about their other needs like where to get EPO injections, blood bags, money for such things like hospital bills, medicines, and their allowance when they visit the dialysis center. I am just proud of my government in taking heed about these needs by our sector of society so that we can get productive because our medical needs are being met in that regard.
