My first Friday Color Challenge

This is a fractal art image created using JWildfire fractal flame editor. Believe it or not, but fractals are created by mathematical calculation of geometry and the results are then plotted onto a computer screen to display a graphical representation of that result.

You may be thinking if this is done by computer, then how can it be art? Well, consider that the formula is like you probably used in maths class, unless you are a mathematician, but remember that these formula were not all numbers.

Example, take the basic formula for creating a Mandelbrot fractal, it looks like this: f_{c}(z)=z^{2}+c}

So, by changing the number associated with each part of the equation, you arrive at a certain graphical image.
The computer is the tool of the artist just as the trowel is to the bricklyer.

Programs which are the tools of the artist

By using the program JWildfire or Mandelbulb3d or any other of the many fractal editors available today, artists and just people wanting to generate some cool pictures to use however they want, are given the tools to tweek and shape the formulas which make up the basic fractal image.

The wonderful thing about fractals and fractal art is Chaos! This term in fractal geometry is what makes fractals so appealing in my opinion.

Chaos says that you always have a certain type of randomness introduced each time you run the calculations and the calculations are run repeated over and over until the limit of repeated calculations or Bailout is reached.

Each time the calculations are run, the result of the calculation or sum is fed into the start of the next run of the calculation. This makes a Self-Similar pattern which when you combine multiple different formula or Transfoms, lead to some absolutely mind blowing images that are totally unique and fabulous!

Further work for this fractal art piece

This blue fractal is a combinaton of about three different Transforms, I do plan on using this as a base image in a more complex composite piece later, but it stands well on its own as I think you may agree.

I wonder how many different things people see when really gazing into this piece of fractal art? I hope you can tell me what you see as you view this image!

Awesome fractal Craig

Thank you very much mate, I have some more ideas about how this can be built upon and hope to get some done to it this weekend, barring anything else wanting my attention. 😋

Love this one and the explanation, very interest I am tempted to delve into it but between work, photography and keeping up on here I know i dont have the time

I thank you Jay! I know exactly what you mean too! It's amazing we get so much done in 24hrs! Thanks very much!
