Aleksa's Book Review: How to Disappear from the Internet

Let me start with the fact that I don't plan to change my identity. For those of us with a double X chromosome persuasion, it might be useful to read books like these. This is the "low-risk, low reward" guide to starting a new life, mostly to do with cooperation with law enforcement, distancing oneself from previous life connections, and similar tactics to ensure safety without necessarily going afoul of law or even social convention. The book explains the author's predicament and how he had to flee and change his identity, followed by how and why you should consider it.

It doesn't focus nearly as much as I'd like on the legal subjects of social security, the existence of your name in databases and the internet, and similar subjects. However, it does mention interesting and down-to-earth insights about how to distance yourself from your family, old habits, and how to smarten up with privacy. Everything from bug-out bags to bitcoin is discussed, and even some wilderness survival, which may be overkill even for the most adamant of angered spouses.

The book left me with a perfectly satisfactory understanding of the basic steps necessary for a long-term and short-term bug-out caused by private, national, and natural disaster - which I'm always glad to have. Don't expect anything mind-blowing from the book, but I think it's a great piece of required reading for any family that's considering the fact they might not be very secure.
