Why I'm addicted to kickstarter, and a handful of my favorite projects - I bet you'll like them too.

For those of you that don't know kickstarter, it's a social based platform where normal people like you and me can seek funding (this is called pledge) for their project and Ideas, this funding comes from normal people called "bakers" who gives their money in exchange of incentives or early access to the product they are supporting.

The potato salad. WTF??

The first time I heard about kickstarter it was because a post I saw on somewhere about a guy who collected $55,492 to make potato salad.

I couldn't believe my eyes so I went to the source and yep... There was this guy who created a campaign pledging $10 in order to make a potato salad, and he didn't even knew what kind yet.

He started asking for $10 but at the end of the campaign he have raised $55,492 just to make potato salad... Man there are lucky people in the world....

It was an anomaly.

I soon realized the potato salad campaign was an anomaly, it turns out kickstarter was full of very cool and worthful projects. It was amazing to see how many people were creating so many cool and really usable things.

I then started to spend more and more time in the website looking for all these amazing projects, some of them really blew my mind. I guess I was like those people who used to sit in front of the TV looking at those TV ads (those that last like 30 minutes or more, you know, those with the "Call now" phrase at the end).

Normal people helping normal people

I think what I like the most about this platform is that these are normal people (very talented ones) receiving help from another normal people, we're not talking about big banks and corporations, just that... normal people and everybody wins.

Some cool projects worth knowing and supporting

While navigating on kickstarter I always bookmarked the projects I liked the most to keep an eye on their progress and maybe support them later so here I'm leaving some of them you guys might find attractive.

FLEX: World's Fastest Chainless E-bike that Fits a Suitcase

This is one of those projects that blew my mind. As its name says, it's an electric chainless bike and it's also portable.

Basically you can pedal or you may let the bike do the work for you, it's really amazing.

URBAN WOOLER: An innovative sneaker that is comfortable, breathable and antibacterial. You can wear it without socks. It's wool !

Basically just sneakers made of wool, I just happen to love their design, and their marketing videos are really catchy.

BATBAND | Sleek Ear-Free Headphones

Aren't Headphones supposed to be used on your ears? Apparently not... At first I was incredulous but I think I'm convinced now, I'll buy mine soon.

Go on, explore and support.

I could go on all day long posting projects I would be happy to give my money to, but I better leave you to make your own searches, maybe you'll find a product you love and can support a struggling entrepreneur.
