Der Schöpfer der Simpsons und Futurama, Matt Groening, hat eine neue Serie namens "Disenchantment" auf Netflix am Start. In dieser neuen Zeichentrick-Serie widmet er sich, nach gelben Familien und Science Fiction, dem Fantasy-Genre. Darin wird die wie ein Loch saufende Prinzessin Bean, vermutlich eine Anspielung auf Hans Christian Andersens Märchen "Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse", gemeinsam mit ihrem Elfenkumpel und ihrem persönlichen Dämon gegen Trolle und Walrosse kämpfen. "Disenchantment" bedeutet übersetzt "Entzauberung" und ich erwarte eine herrliche Abrechnung mit Nerd-Klischees und übergriffigen Trollen.
Die Serie soll am 17. August mit den ersten 10 Episoden starten, geplant sind zunächst 20 und wie ich Groenings Erfolge kenne, dürfte uns Disenchantment noch für ein paar Jahre begleiten.

Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. Also voicing characters are John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.
“Ultimately,” says Groening, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

From what we're hearing, this will put the Groening-series spin on fantasy series like Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings—meaning, equal parts mockery and reverence. Twenty episodes have been ordered, and they will premiere in 10-episode chunks.
A ton of Futurama voice actors are participating, including Billy West, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, and Tress MacNeille. The show as announced will revolve around a "hard-drinking young princess" named Bean, voiced by Broad City star Abbi Jacobson, and her primary companions will include a personal demon voiced by Adult Swim super-weirdo Eric Andre and an elf voiced by comedian Nat Faxon. Longtime Simpsons showrunner Josh Weinstein will join Groening as an executive producer
