The Future of Content: Marked Down and User Defined

in distribution •  8 years ago  (edited)

Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube. These are the old dying giants. They were built in a different world with different technology where users are just ad revenue.

I believe the sun is setting on centralized data centers containing databases full of user produced content, imprisoned, used to make money, not for the user but for the corporation. Who's responsability isn't to the user but to the share holder. Robber barrons imposing their world views onto the world. Spreading proprietary tech, not to liberate, but to entrap the users into a walled garden where content must be inside to get views, where sharing with friends is exploited for big profit.

To free ourselves from the Zuckerberg victorian hedge maze all we need to do is take our power back. We give facebook and all similar ilk our power, creativity, and personal data. All we need to do to kill it is stop.

Stop using platforms that are not in our interests and start working with other individuals to communicate freely on our own terms. To do this we need new protocols that are being developed at this very moment. #steemit is one, and is proving to be a wild success.

Content must be freed from the datacenter prisons because information wants to be free.

And let's start shorting the stocks!

Lol. Thats a good idea. Blockchain and distributed transition stock shorts. I think zuck really exposed himself with the freebasics. Google and facebook tried to "give" free internet away, but it's tied to their platforms. Google's intentions seem good mostly but we shouldn't have to put our trust and hopes in the future onto for-profit corperations led by a few people. It is going down. Just look at the STEEM chart:)
