Gender equality, diversity, shut the fuck up.

I am so tired of reading about gender equality, diversity and how to make tech companies more diverse. News flash, businesses are in business to make money, they want the best people that they can find to help them make more money. It's really that simple. I sat in on a meeting with an executive from a hair care company. She touted how diverse her company was and showed us a picture of all their employees. They had maybe 100 people, black, asian, and middle eastern faces all started out to me. She said that they were one of the most diverse companies she had every worked out, and "The one white person that worked there had purple hair". That isn't diverse that is a company that has lots of ethnicities but no diversity. If you want to have a diverse company then you need to have a diverse group of people. Whites, Blacks, Browns, Yellows, Oranges, Greens and what ever color I forgot. If you want a truly diverse workplace you need democrats, republicans, libertarians, freedomatarians, anarchist, communists and whatever political view I forgot. You also need people from every country, every ideology, every sexual orientation. Quit asposing the need for diversity, if you want to get a job in tech, be fucking good at your job. If you want to be appreaciated for your unique, butterfly lifestyle that means you have no ability to have a frank discussion about something you don't agree with find a whole bunch of people that think, dress and act like you then start a company and tell the world how diverse you are because you will be happy with your view of diversity because diversity is having the messy stew that is humanity that means, old white guys work with young black girls and they can have a different view of the world but they can still sit down and work in the same company and pursue that all mighty dollar for the company. Females of the world if you want your seat at the table learn your shit, be awesome at your job and apply for shit you don't think your are qualified you might find that companies want to hire you but you need to let them know.
