- "And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.
- THEN HE APPOINTED TWELVE, THAT THEY MIGHT BE WITH HIM AND THAT HE MIGHT SEND THEM OUT TO PREACH,
- and to have power [authority] to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons."
Mark 3:13-15 (NKJV)
B. That He might send them out to preach
• This is the second reason or purpose why He has called them: that He might send them out to preach.
- Jesus Himself determines the duration of time they would need to be with Him before sending them out.
IN reality, your staying with Him is for ever. - However, about sending you, there should be an amount of time He would want you to be with Him.
AT such a time no one will know anything about you, your vision, or whatever you are doing (Galatians 1:15-17).
AFTERWARDS, If you have being with Him for a period of time, depending on the type of the assignment He has for you as an individual, He will THEN send you to preach.
- "BUT WHEN IT PLEASED GOD, who separated me [Paul] from my mother's womb and called me through His grace,
- TO REVEAL HIS SON IN ME, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I DID NOT IMMEDIATELY CONFER WITH FLESH AND BLOOD,
- nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus."
Galatians 1:15-17 (NKJV)
• Separated to be with Him at the onset of the work of ministry.
- This is the time to be with Him immediately after He has called you.
YOUR faithfulness and response to His dealings determined how soon He sends or releases you to preach.
HE will always call you back to be with Him when He has fresh instruction, additional assignment, or He wants to move you to another stage or phase of your assignment.
KNOW that your assignment is in phases; He would always have to call you back, to be with Him in order to give you detailed instructions about the next stage in your work.
• The subsequent staying will always come up when He wants to change your level and the level of the work He has for you.
MY advice is that you should not be rigid, be flexible in His hand, whenever He wanted to move you.
HE will always have to call you apart in giving you detailed instructions on what He wants you to do.
• A number of people have gone out preaching and doing what they are not SENT to do (Jeremiah 23:21-22).
SUCH people have gone ahead of God.
GOD is calling attention of some people but they are busy working, believing they are working for Him, but they have lost contact with Him.
HE may have to interrupt your project or whatever you believe you are doing for Him.
THAT is why you have to be sensitive and always be in touch with Him always.
DO not be so rigid with what you are doing, He may have commanded you to do what you are doing, but may later ask you to stop (Numbers 9:16-23).
IF you are rigid, you want to have your way, it may cause you to suffer, and to stay longer on the same spot.
HE may not allow whatever you are doing to prosper, until you have obeyed Him.
IF He is calling you to come back for fresh instruction and you cannot hear, or you disobeyed, anything can happen to you because you are on your own.
DO not hesitate to stop when He says stop.
• God may use A burning-bush to interrupt you AND call your attention (Exodus 3:2-6).
- The calling always comes with a sudden interruption.
- At times the interruption may be with forces of darkness, especially if you are so much attached to the assignment at hand.
THAT is why when any strange thing happens to you, or happens in your ministry, take time out to stay aside in order to to ask Him some questions—to know what could have been the cause of the strange thing.
HE may be using what has happened to call your attention in order to give you further instructions on how to move to the next stage of the assignment.
IT may be as a result of your too much attachment to the work, or being over busy, that you have lost your fellowship with Him.
• Most of the sudden attacks people received in the ministry work are to call their attention and for them to change their strategies.
YOU must treasure your staying with Him, that is, fellowship, than any other thing.
YOU must be sensitive and be conscious of hearing Him always, that you may know what He is saying per time.
HE does not want whoever He has sent on an assignment to lose contact with Him.
YOU should always behold His countenance to know what He is saying.
YOU must have the consciousness of His presence, and always crave for more of His presence.
BE much more sensitive!
• If He is sending you out to preach, He will give you a specific message, an emphasis, what to stress in your messages.
- You only have a part to preach. He will give you a point or points of emphasis
- When He gives you a message, He will tell you those whom the message belong (Matthew 3:2-6).
- You are not sent to everybody. You are sent to a specific group of people
- Your assignment is geographical also. You are sent to certain places
- Peter was sent to the Jews, while Paul was sent to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7-9).
THE two of them
were sent to preach the gospel with different emphasis, to different people, and at different locations (Galatians 2:7-9). - And different means of carrying out their messages.
SOME through writing of books, some through electronic
media, while some others through crusades and planting of churches, some Hospital ministries, and some to Schools, and so on.
C. To have power to heal SICKNESSES AND TO CAST OUT DEMONS
- He will not empower you, until you have been with Him.
JESUS commanded the disciples not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father (Acts 1:4,5).
BUT you shall receive power when Holy Spirit has come upon you (Acts 1:8). - Power comes as a result of tarrying in His presence.
- The longer you stay in His presence, the more you are empowered or anointed.
• Moses stayed on the mountain with Him for 40 days and nights and when He came back His face shone like that of an angel and the people were afraid to move closer to him—his face was changed (Exodus 34:28-30).
• Jesus also stayed in the wilderness for 40 days before He started His ministry, and the power came (Luke 4:1,2,14).
"Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region."
Luke 4:14 (NKJV)
THE secret of receiving power is to stay, tarry or linger in His presence
Experience His person.
KNOW Him: “Those who know the Lord their God shall be strong and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).
• That He may give them power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons (Mark 3:15).
IF your fellowship or communion with Him is strengthened, you cannot but have His strong presence in your life.
IF He has sent you, He will empower you.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!
