We have been waiting two years to use this paint. All last year it rained. 😕 We got it from WalMart for sixty some odd amount two winters ago.

Anyways our roof will get hot enough to burn you in the summer, when it rains or snow melts it leaks. This stuff is suppose to help with the heat and water.

Yesterday it was in the mid 70’s at our place. So we prepped the roof, that included scraping turkey poop off the roof from my turkey. Then we swept it, covered it with plastic and left it until we could paint it.

This is our main problem area, the front porch. So this is what we will focus on first. So the plan is to paint up and over the peak(behind me in the photo) and a foot or two off the sides of the valleys so we don’t have water seeping under and defeating the purpose.

Well we had clear skies this morning and the sun casted a shadow on the roof from a tree so I painted like the crazy before the sun moved.

To begin with I tried a paint tray, HA! That was a waste! It’s to thick, so I grabbed a bucket and poured it on the roof.
It was very nice to pour the paint, truly! Because in the valleys where the last owner did the roof there was gaps. So I poured it on thick and rolled it out. Same with the hole in the shingles, I poured it into the hole and rolled it out a bit.

Trying to seal this sucker up!

When the bucket was ‘empty’ I turned it upside down to let what was left run out onto the roof. Then we would fill up the little bucket again. The system worked great.

hehehe you can see @alaskatactical in the background sharpening a saw

All done... with one five gallon bucket. LOL
It still covered the problem area, and I planed it out perfectly too! Eeek!!! I love then that happens, don’t you!
It will take another 15-20 gallons to finish the roof. Major problem is Walmart doesn’t have the roof paint anymore so we have to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s, we tried a local mom and pop shop first and they don’t have it.

Hope this works well for us.

Did you have to go up and down the ladder? Or did you at least get somebody to bring the bucket refilled :P

Hubby was helping with the paint, but was upset to do so. Didn’t want to get paint on him self. 🙄 But refused to change clothes. 😒 The last bucket I got myself, I was done crewing around and waiting on him.

I haven't tried it over shingles, but it is supposed to adhere a little better there (it just takes a little more paint volume) but it works great on metal! I cleaned the metal roof first, but 100% of the leaks sealed, first time.

Enjoy your dry house! :)

I've used that kind of paint on a travel trailer roof, and over painted plywood. It worked well in both cases.

Yay!!! Good to know!

Yeah also had it on one of my travel trailers, works great (and rain sounds so much nicer, not deafening like it sounds on the stretched vinyl)
