Prepping for a birthday : ice cream cake

We are attempting to make ice cream cakes and making a yummy mess.

It was a kids idea to use a bed sheet for a table cloth, it actually didn’t budge!

Well here is the original recipe, it seems rather easy.

Disclaimer: this is my first attempt and I have no fraking idea what I am doing

• 4 quarts of ice cream per cake ✔️
• 24 cookies per cake ✔️
• Whipped cream tub for frosting ✔️
• Chocolate syrup/fudge or caramel syrup
• Spring form pan ✔️
• Candy for the toppings ✔️
• Sprinkles for the top ✔️
• Candels ✔️

I didn’t have 12 quarts of ice cream on hand so I had to go shopping. I mean come on, I’m an American... LOL

My cart looked like a diabetic nightmare

I always make sure they each have their own birthday cake, they will always be a triplet a pack of three, a trio. But I always make sure they know they are individuals. They don’t have names the rhyme either, but when stressed I still call the wrong name. LOL

I have no idea how I am going to put candles into a frozen cake 🤦‍♀️

So the first thing you do is butter the bottom of your spring form pans.

Then you take one of your softened ice cream flavors and cover the bottom with it.

This is Neapolitan ice cream
Once you have your layer you put it in the freezer for a half hour.

While it’s in the freezer you give your kids a rolling pin and have them beat the pee waddeling out of the cookies.

After the half hour and the cookie beating. Cover the top of the ice cream that’s in the spring form pan with your choice of syrup. Then add your cookie crumbles to the top and press lightly, or you will end up messy.

Then back into the freezer for another half hour.

After the second chill add the second layer of softened ice cream.

Smooth it out, and put plastic wrap/press and seal over the top. Press the plastic wrap onto the ice cream so there is very little air so you don’t get freezer burnt ice cream.

Cake 2: mint cookies and cream and strawberry ice cream with half and half(black and white) cookies with caramel syrup

Cake 3: apple pie and peanut butter chocolate ice cream half and half cookies with caramel syrup
•PLEASE NOTE IT IS IMPORTANT TO LAY THE CAKE FLAT IN THE FREEZER•
Good thing it’s just ice cream.

This is the third chill, 8-24 hours in the freezer.

This is as far as we have gotten, even though they are bugging me to finish the cakes.

• The next steps are suppose to be easy. Pop the ring off. Turn cake upside down on a plate or something. Warm the bottom of the pan, just enough to release the bottom. Then somehow flip it right side up while it’s already starting to melt. Then put the whipped cream on it like frosting.
EASY PEASY! 😂

My triplets will be 10 on the Fourth of July, they are my 🎇 fire works 🎆!

You must have been crazy busy when they were babies!
My now 14yr old and 17yr old were enough, I couldn’t imagine triplets or even twins, lol.

Wow, I can't imagine doing the chaos of birthday prep x 3. I guess you've had ten years to get used to it.

Very nice that you have 3 cakes, and I'm sure they will be wonderful.

It can be chaotic but we stretch their birthday over a week normally. That way it’s not a marathon.
