Hey everyone. Today I will do a quick DIY post on how to make your own Acai Bowl. Acai bowls are both delicious and healthy, but they can start to get expensive if you are constantly going out to the health store to buy one. So I will show you how I make mine for a fraction of the price. Plus, if you make it yourself, then you are in control of all ingredients and you know exactly what foods are being put in. My Acai bowl uses no added sugar or sweetener. The sweetness comes from the fruit itself. Lets get to it...
My ingredients for this particular Acai bowl are as follows:
Part 1: The Acai Puree
1 Frozen Banana
A Handful of Frozen Red Cherries
1 Heaping Teaspoon Acai Powder (I used the one pictured below purchased via Amazon)
1/4 Cup of Almond Milk
1/4 Cup Coconut Milk with the fat
Part 2: The Toppings
Blackberries
Sliced Almonds
Crushed Walnuts
Sprouted Gluten-free Granola (No sugar added: Sweetened with dates. I used the Go Raw Granola)
Blueberries
Chia Seeds
Hemp Seeds
Coconut Flakes
1 Tablespoon of Cashew Butter
Directions:
Blend all of the ingredients in a Hi-Powered Blender such as a Vitamix until you get a nice semi-thick consistency. Remove from blender into a bowl. Top with ingredients listed in Part 2. And enjoy! It is that easy. Stop wasting all your money at the Acai stores and start making your own. The possibilities are endless. You can add pretty much anything you want.
A quick note. Once you open Acai Powder, you should keep it in the fridge or even the freezer to prevent it from spoiling. It has some essential fats in it, so it can spoil in left in the cabinet at room temperature. The particular recipe I used is paleo friendly and vegan friendly, so anyone and everyone can enjoy it. Let me know how it goes for you or if you have any secret recipes that you would like to share. Until next time...take care.
