I recently discovered a use a flaxseeds other than eating them. Hair Gel!

As some of you may have read I have been following the Curl Girl Method for a month now and have been using an expensive gel by Boucleme at £15 a bottle.

I like my natural products and thought i'd give this ago. I used it last night, and it certainly works and forms a good caste of gel before scrunching out when dry. However be warned it feels like raw egg whites in your hair.

As far as I am aware this can be used on all hair types. I apply the Flaxseed Gel while my hair is soaking wet.

Anyway onto the very basic instructions

Buy some brown or golden Flaxseed whole not milled. As milled is too fine.

Next add 1/4 cup of Flaxseed and 2 cups of water to a pan. Bring to the boil. The whole process will take around 7 minutes.

But when you have white froth and the seeds are floating rather thank sinking you are ready to turn off the head.

Finally you need to strain the liquid from the seeds. I used a old glass jar and a tea strainer and sieved them through.

I even cut up a pair of tights to get the excess but found that process futile so I wouldn't bother. Also you can reuse the seeds. So keep them handy.

Once you have drained all the liquid from the seed, place in the fridge and use when ready. Apparently it will keep for 2 weeks. It looks gross, feels gross at first but really works.

Also that box of flaxseed cost around £5 so much cheaper and no chemicals!

I also thought if you have children you could add some food dye and make slime!!!
