Rick Porcello signed a one year deal with the New York Mets. He grew up rooting for the team calling the 2000 team his favorite of all time.
His fandom rewarded the Mets who were, according to Porcello, the first team to call him when free agency started. That meant a lot to him he said.
It is now surfacing that he received multi-year deals from other teams but turned them down to sign with the Mets. He is betting on himself after having a sub-par 2019.
The Blue Jays offered more than the $10 million the Mets did, $12 million to be exact along with a potential second year.
