He accepted a deal with the division rival Philadelphia Phillies. His deal is for 5 years and pay him $118 million. This was a blockbuster deal for the righty who dealt with injuries for a good part of his career.
Over the past two seasons, Wheeler showed the potential he had. He turned himself into a top 10 pitcher in baseball, offering the Phils incentive to pay up for him.
He said there was a deal on the table for more money but he took the offer since his wife is from the east coast.
This move helps the shore up a Phillies starting staff that was a bit weak last season.
