Here is one of a pair of oak mirrors I designed and made for a client of mine.
The main oval mirror frame is made from solid oak which was constructed from two book matched pieces. It was rebated to take the bevelled mirror and then moulded.
The carved design is made up of intertwined oak leaves and ivy.
The oak was carved in limewood because it was light in colour and excellent to carve and the ivy was carved in mahogany to give contrast. The mahogany also matched in with a side table I made which sits in between the two mirrors.
All the carving was applied afterwards to the mirror frame which give a high relief effect and creates shadow.
Many thanks,

That is a real classic. Looks great.
The contrast with the mahogany is nice.
