The MAVEN spacecraft today is starting a campaign to tighten its orbit around Mars to prepare to serve as a data-relay satellite for NASA’s Mars 2020 rover, which launches next year.

According to study, life may have been on Mars which is currently not available there. Space agencies have sent several spacecrafts that are moving around Mars to find out the reasons which discontinued life there. However, NASA has sent several spacecrafts on Mars surface. Recently they have successfully landed InSight spacecraft on Mars to study its interiors.

MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution) was launched 4 years ago to study the atmosphere of Red planet. Now it will work as a data-relay satellite for NASA’s Mars 2020 rover which is going to be launched in 2020. The mission will shrink MAVEN’s elliptical orbit so that it could successfully communicate with Mars 2020 rover.
