Neither fully Earth nor space, the ionosphere reacts both to winds and weather from the lower atmosphere below and solar energy streaming in from above, changing constantly to form conditions we call space weather. Early in the morning of Nov. 7, 2018, NASA launches ICON, a spacecraft that will explore this dynamic region.

Never heard about the term "space weather". They are spending billions of dollars to find out space weather while our world weather is being polluted constantly. If they would spend the money to change our own world, rather than exploring the our space, our world would be a much better place.

A lot of what we have on earth here is a result of experiments conducted in space over the last few decades.

Great project from Nasa I'm looking forward to the first pictures and data on it. Thanks for sharing!

I hope this project is going to be successful it will gives a new important data about the atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!

Space is awesome.  I want to go up there.  I watch Musk and Bezos and Branson.  I want to be on a spaceship.

Space is an interesting place to look.  We know so little about it yet it holds so many mysteries.  We could have magical answers only a couple thousand miles up but not know it.  The environment is hostile and completely foreign to us.  But we are making progress.

We are turning into Captain Kirk.  The Star Trek days are coming into being.

Well, if they say exploring the space weather, there must be a different flow of  air above vs. the solar influence in a certain space area. I hope they find scientific and interesting facts  on this project.
