Do you know the answers of the above question? Have you ever thought about it? There are several things to explore in this world, but we generally never think about it. However there is a history behind everything which exists today. I also never thought who kept the names of the days of the week?

But one thing I knew that internet definitely has the answer of my question. Today I typed my question in Google search and found a post which explains how the names of the days of the week had been kept in history.

History says that the names of the days were kept by the Babylonians. They kept the name of five days from Thursday to Saturday after the name of five planets that they knew them before. And the Sunday and Monday were kept after the Sun and Moon. Later the Roman people agreed with the Babylonians and adopted these standard names of the days.

Afterward the names of seven-day week were included in the Roman calendar in 321 and kept Sunday and Monday as the starting of the week. The names of the other weekday originated from the names of gods of Anglo-Saxon tribes.  The explanation is as follows:

Tuesday comes from Tiu, or Tiw, the Anglo-Saxon name for Tyr, the Norse god of war. Tyr was one of the sons of Odin, or Woden, the supreme deity after whom Wednesday is named. Similarly, Thursday originates from Thor, the god of thunder. Friday is derived from Frigga, the wife of Odin, representing love and beauty. Saturday comes from Saturn, the ancient Roman god of fun and feasting.
