It is very important to control the distance in a fight whether you fight in a fighting competition or fight for self defense. If your opponent is too close to you, anything could happen. 

Sometimes you want the opponent get close to you, sometimes you do not want that. It is up to you and what situation you are in. Let's talk about how you can make the distance. You can simply push your opponent to make the distance. 

You can do a front kick, that is a push kick. Yes, you can do a front kick to hit your opponent or push him away. Let's watch this video where it shows how to do the push kick for beginners.

If you do push kick, fall your leg forward and lose your balance, that is a vulnerable position. So you do not want to do that. You can practice this kick on the air and later practice it on the kick bag.
