I don't know if I've written about this before, but about 20 years ago I decided to enroll in a professional wrestling school. Two of my friends (Andy Williams and Eric E.) and I drove an hour away from Buffalo,NY to a school in Burlington, Ontario for a tryout. Two of us continued after Andy injured his knee a couple days later. They kept saying they wanted us to bring back the "big guy," referring to Andy Williams.
My other friend quit eventually as well. I continued going to the school and wrestled for about a year before my own injury led me to an early retirement. Andy's band took off and became huge. I knew he was wrestling again for a few years, having seen clips on YouTube. I was quite surprised to see him pop out from under the ring while watching AEW the other day.
This was so awesome! I never found success in either music or wrestling but congratulations Andy on accomplishing both! Now go kick some ass.
