Where do you dump your organic waste? - When composting is outlawed - Daily Dlive #31

Today I have to clean up the trimmings from the tree we cut down last week. The neighbor graciously lends me his truck and his time to drive it over to the dumping area.

Everything that isn't taken to the dumping area must be cut up and put into bins. These are the neighborhood rules. What goofy rules, if any, do they have in your neighborhood?

Love and Light!

Sort Order:

Here we don't have any rules, but I have large composting bins. In Canada, we practically had to gift wrap the garbage before it would be picked up! We had to use clear bags, with big orange tags and special bag ties. Paper had to be separated into plain or glossy and tied with cord. Cardboard had to be packaged up in small bundles also tied with cord. Plastic containers and bottles had to be sorted by category. Clear glass in one bin. Colored glass in another (talk about segregation!) We could also recycle plastic bags and they went into a separate bag. Cans were divided into tin, aluminum, and metal. The tops and bottoms had to be removed as well as the labels. They were to be washed (not rinsed) and squashed down. Compost was in a separate bin with wheels. It would take you all day just to get your trash ready for collection.

Wow! This is the first tale of serious recycling I have heard! Would you get fined if you didn't follow all the rules?

Did anyone start a business offering to sort your garbage for you? c;

There were fines as well as them refusing to pick up your trash until you complied with the rules. No, you were on your own. But that was more than 20 years ago so maybe now there are people who do that.

It's like the wild west round here not many rules... Just the way I like it.
My sister lived in a community where you were not allowed to have pickup trucks 🙄

That's crazy! That's UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!

The worse part is she didn't live in a hoa situation. City decided pickups are work vehicles and not allowed to park them in the
Drive after work hours aka dark.
No kidding, she moved.

That is incredible! I would move too!

Coming from Colombia, and there are actually some rules there, we have to register vaccinations if we have more than 200 birds for example, I am shocked at the silly anrtiti-ecological and seemingly anti-work ordinances in some places!

When we moved I had to have health certificate for all my animals crossing state line.
Because my horses had to go through the Ag check point.
It was expensive.
There is no such thing as true freedom anymore

we are allowed to compost, and have a firepit, providing you don't build a raging fire in it! Some yard waste like large branches, etc, have to be taking to the local Recycling plant.
You're keeping yourself busy my friend!

I try Skip, got to keep myself moving, hoping to make ends meet as this year comes to a close.

The goofiest rule in my neighborhood is 'no clotheslines'. My across the street neighbors sold their home and moved away, partly because of it. I'm lucky that I have a big screened in porch and if I want to stretch a line across it on breezy days, things dry nicely.

Ah! Drying outside makes the clothes smell so nice! Thank you for sharing Melinda! I see you are a natural in the engagement contest!

I am often the winner of the 15 Steem that is given away on the eSteem leaderboard each month, so commenting has been my thing since I started here and began using eSteem a year ago. I think you are right, it does come naturally- but the Engagement League has some fierce competition! Holy Cow! I am astonished by their efforts!

Yes indeed! I did win a few weeks ago, it took a lot of effort but I learned some important things. If you wanted to try to win one week, I would support you with some of my secrets ;p

Are you on discord? Although discord does take time away from commenting....I'm not ready to publish my findings hehehehe

I am on Discord...same name, although I do not spend a lot of time there. I'd love a few tips, though. I am a one-handed typer. I have MS and it makes typing difficult for me so I'm just now learning to use the voice feature. I'm getting better with it!

Hey I am having trouble finding you, would you mind adding youself to this server, at least while we become friends? Its for a steem game called chibera, and you don't have to stay in it long if you don't want to. If you do I get points though hehehe.

Are you working with a speach to text program like Dragon? I have heard about those! Would love to hear your experiences with it one day, maybe in a post I could upvote ;p

I followed your link to chibera. Now can you find me? Hope you got points!

You won the first week that I joined the engagement league. It was funny to watch all of the comments about Janton's chair!

I could invite you to a different server, like the Steemit Ramble

I tried...but can never get past ginabot.
